Hi! Welcome to my first blog post!
I've just finished my junior year of study and am springing into summer activities. Most recently, outside of school assignments I've been doing work about my own life. "Pathways" was the beginning of a real transition for me. The painting itself expresses my conflicting feelings about choices and some hard decisions I've made regarding people in my life. It is interesting though to hear back from viewers, out of my pain and confusion someone saw strength. They said, "he looks like a king", that he was only missing a crown or headdress, that his eyes were striking, his presence full of power. It honestly lifted my spirits, though it is not a traditional self-portrait, it speaks to the way people perceive what is presented.
Anyway, take this as a message to keep your chin up.
